Brazilian genetic studies 2019

I think this is the most updated genetic study of the Brazilian population. Just like the others, this one shows similar results, with Brazil being pred-Euro in all regions, African ancestry being the second largest imput, Amerindian being the last (except in the north region, where is stronger than SSA: Euro >>>>> Amerindian >>>>> SSA).
Abstract
The genetic background of the Brazilian population is mainly characterized by three parental populations: European, African, and Native American. The aim of this study was to overview the genetic ancestry estimates for different Brazilian geographic regions and analyze factors involved in these estimates. In this systematic scoping review were included 51 studies, comprehending 81 populations of 19 states from five regions of Brazil. To reduce the potential of bias from studies with different sampling methods, we calculated the mean genetic ancestry weighted by the number of individuals. The weighted mean proportions of European, African, and Native American ancestries were 68.1%, 19.6%, and 11.6%, respectively. At the regional level, the highest European contribution occurred in the South, while the highest African and Native American contributions occurred in the Northeastern and Northern regions, respectively. Among states in the Northeast region, Bahia and Ceará showed significant differences, suggesting distinct demographic histories. This review contributes for a broader understanding of the Brazilian ancestry and indicates that the ancestry estimates are influenced by the type of molecular marker and the sampling method.
Keywords: Scoping review; genetic ancestry; Brazilian population; genetic admixture

Interesting, so the most euro place based on that study is Alfenas
Have you been there, do you think that area is really 88% European?

I always stereotype Brazil as a black nation, until I realized how European it really is. I've heard people say that Brazil is a majority black country because it has the largest black population outside of Africa

There is a lot of misconceptions about this country, more than any other Latin American nation

LOL on instagram, Ive seen so many African Americans claim that Brazil is very black because they have the largest black population outside of Africa, but then I explain to them that, that is only because of their population size but when it comes to percentage, its very different

one thing that annoys me is when Americans (of any race) want to force their views on race and classifications on other nations
its like, they way they view race is the only way people around the world should see it

there was a youtube video where someone left a comment about how white latinos are seen as white among white people
so i told him "you mean among white americans? because in Europe, its a whole different thing, Europeans do know whites exist in Latin America and do view White Latinos as white. white americans are not the center when it comes to whiteness, what they consider white is irrelevant the same way whats considered black in america will differ in Africa, a biracial person in Nigeria would be classified as "white" and not as black"

I even posted a video of a Ghanaian/Belgium man who moved to Ghana and he said that in Ghana he is considered a white man, while in Belgium he is considered a black or colored man (I guess depending on the person), but the discrimination were two completely different experiences, that in Ghana the discrimination is positive because he is praised due to his lighter skin, while in Belgium, he is discriminated in a negative way due to his dark skin

I dont think Americans know theres a whole as different world outside the USA lol

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I forgot to do it.

I have never been there, but I wouldn't be surprised if Alfenas is really 88% European.

Minas Gerais state has a very strong European/Portuguese colonial imput, during the colonial period the state received more Portuguese immigrants than Spaniards in all colonial Hispanic America.

Because Brazil, for a long time, in order to promote exotic tourism to gringos, had/have promoted the image of a very africanized country.

But, despite having a significant African imput (the second strongest, when it comes to diferent races in our genetic makeup, being only surpassed by Amerindians in the north, there it's third the strongest), Brazil's culture/genetics/phenotypes (yeah, pardos are more numerous, but I would say their features tend to be more Portuguese shifted than African) are mainly Portuguese derived, with other Euro elements (and also Japanese, arab), but these, while signicant, in a smaller scale.
