DR used to have a larger white/criollo population too, as well, but many left after Haiti took over that half of the island for a while, many left for Venezuela, I heard, Santo Domingo (now the DR) was one of the Spanish colonies with the most criollos, along with Mexico.

what is new spain ?
New Spain was part of the Spanish Empire which extended from the Southwestern United States, along with Louisiana, & Florida, to Mexico, to most of Central America, it also included the Caribbean, & the Philippines, as well as Pacific Islands such as Guam.

thats what they say

but our white population was always smaller than the black though, thing is at that time,. it was still hispaniola (one island) not only spanish but also we had alot of french (white haitians),

the whole island was 25% white at one point during the early 1700s, then it dropped immidietly

its very hared to get an accurate number at the time, esepcially since there was no borders so u didnt know what side u were on but there was definitelty attempts at trying to seperate the french and the spanish side but it really wasnt visible like today
